California LLC Formation
The California Secretary of State requires that the company formation essentially is completed in two parts. First, the formation of the LLC itself to get the basic information available on the state record. Then within 90 days of that the Statement of Information must be filed to fill in information such as the governing person details and any updates to the address or Registered Agent. Kuma Filings will be sure to have both of these filed for you one after the other to ensure it’s done in a proper way and timely manner. California is a public state, meaning all the information listed on the form below aside from the email address is made available to the public to view on the state record.
Once formed, it’s important to keep in mind that there is the Franchise Tax that must be filed within four months and fifteen days of the LLC formation. This is an annual tax due to the state of California to do business totaling $800 that all businesses must pay. Additionally, a Statement of Information is due every year by the last day of your LLC’s anniversary month to keep your information up to date and your business in good standing.
California takes between around eight days to accept the filing, allowing Kuma Filings to proceed with the Statement of Information. You can expect your paperwork back between eight and nine days via email.
