Texas Assumed Name

A business listed with the Secretary of State by default operates under one name, however often a business may have a need for operating under two or more names. An Assumed Name is synonymous with DBA, or a Doing Business As name, and is commonly identified by the latter.

An Assumed name allows a company to conduct business under different names. For example, a nail salon chain may be owned by one holding business, but each physical location is run under its own individual name.

Series LLCs also frequently use Assumed Names in order to store their subsidiaries under their parent LLC.

To file for an Assumed Name in Texas you will need a few things.

  • The Assumed Name or Doing Business As name
  • An address to provide to the state
  • The counties to conduct business under the assumed name in. This can be as few as one county or as many as all counties

How does it work?

We’ll take the new Assumed Name information that you want listed for your business and submit the filing to the state for you.

Once submitted, the state has a turnaround time between two to four business days, at which point we will email your finalized paperwork to you. Then, you’re all set to begin conducting business under the additional name!

Our Assumed Name filing for $50 includes:

  • The state filing fee
  • The state online filing processing fees
  • Follow-up for any discrepancies in the filing before submission
  • Email support for any questions or concerns
