Texas Change of Registered Agent
A Registered Agent is an individual or entity that is available at the address specified between 9AM-5PM, Monday through Friday, in order to receive correspondence from the state or Service of Process, commonly known as lawsuits, on behalf of the business they are the agent for.
When first forming a business with the state it is required to list a Registered Agent. Often a business owner may list personal information when first starting or go with a Registered Agent provider that for one reason or another is not someone they want to stay with any longer. A Change of Registered Agent filing allows this Registered Agent information to be updated to a new Registered Agent.
To change your Registered Agent in Texas you will need a couple things.
- A new Registered Agent, which would include their name and address
- A Consent to Serve form on file with that Registered Agent or provided along with the filing sent to the state
How does it work?
We’ll take the new Registered Agent information that you want listed for your business, which will need to include the new Registered Agent’s name and address, as well as the consent form showing that this agent agrees to be listed for your business. If they choose to keep the consent on file with them, just let us know.
Once submitted, the state has a turnaround time between two to four business days, at which point we will email your finalized paperwork to you. Then, your new Registered Agent will be all set to begin receiving your legal correspondence.
